I've never had a cold sore before, but after kissing a guy [a week ago I first noticed something right above my lip that looked like a pimple. I picked at it, and supposed it was a pimple, a couple days later it seemed to get a lot more irratated. Stupid me picked at it some more till it bleed a bit and scabbed up. I tried reading some things online about cold sores and HSV, and it said it was to have a yellowish scab which I don't have. It was just a normal looking scab, but around the scab my skin was really irrated. Now after picking at it more, yeah, I'm an idiot, its like I have a small hole on the edge of my upper lip the size of a small almost inverted pimple, is that what a cold sore would look like if you were to pick it? Please help me.

Best answer: Stop picking at it. No one, especially random people on this site, can diagnose you without being examined by a professional. If the guy you kissed didn't have a cold sore when you were kissing him you probably didn't get a sore from him. However, bear in mind that most people have oral cold sores so you may already have them and if not you are likely to get them sometime in your life. People get cold sore usually through non-sexual means when people are being affectionate with them. A cold sore is a cold sore. It will go away,or what ever it is will go away if you leave it alone and allow it to heal. |

Like when you're outside playing in the snow for a few hours, then u come inside and ur feet are all cold. and then ur nose starts dripping, then u start coughing, and tats how it all starts. so there MUST be some kind of relationship.

Best answer: Because the human body operates at an optimal temperature of 98.6 degrees Fahrenheit. Whenever the body temperature is lower than this, the immune system becomes weak, some white blood cells die, and bacteria/viruses have an easier time in taking over your system- thus getting you sick. Also, the easiest way to lower your body temperature is (voila) to go outside in the cold air, which makes you colder as well, since the temperature in the air is loewr than the temperature in your body. Lastly, the reason length has to do with it is because for a time, your clothing keeps a good amount of heat trapped inside. But after awhile, your body cannot heat itself/the clothes fast enough to keep warm. Once this happens, you get sick even MORE fast, since not only are you cold, but your body has wasted alot of energy in keeping you warm. So the longer you are in the cold, the colder you get, and the weaker your body gets, and the easier it is to catch a virus/bacteria/infection. |

The Cold Sore is inside my nose, which obviously wouldn't be touching anything on my boyfriend, but would the cold sore make my saliva contagious, or if i put it in my mouth, will i infect my boyfriend?
There is NOT a cold sore on my mouth or throat. I just dont know if it being inside my nose, away from being touched, could still be a problem.

Best answer: First of all, I did not know you could get cold sores in your nose. How did that come about? That being said, cold sores are herpes, and your nose, throat, and mouth are all connected. Fluids (snot) inside of your nose can run down your throat, which is right at the back of your mouth. And spit is all over your mouth, and moving around in your mouth when you perform oral. So, it's kinda gross, but I would think it is entirely possible. There are also certain stages of when the herpes is contagious, however, I don't remember what they are at the moment. Look it up 'herpes' in Wikipedia. I would avoid it. You don't want to take that chance, because I'm sure it's not fun to have genital herpes, and if he gets it and you stay together, you wil lend up having it, too. So definately please be cautious. And I'm just saying that it's possible, your doctor can probably give you a way more correct answer than I can. Good luck. |

Best answer: Things get taken off the market because they don't sell well, they get replaced by something better, a competitor shuts the company down, the FDA or other regulatory body says it is not safe anymore or they 'improve' the product so they can sell it for more money. The pharmaceutical industry is big and powerful and won't tolerate interference in their plans. On the other hand, home remedies can not be shut down. |
